 LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fourth-seeded Kentucky rallied from a 19-point second half deficit to within one point of the lead, but the Wildcats could not overcome fifth-seeded Ohio State’s advantage, as the Buckeyes won 82-68 on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum.

MOREHEAD, Ky.Preston Spradlin, who spent the majority of the 2016-17 season as interim head coach and just concluded his third season with the program, has been named the 14th head men’s basketball coach at Morehead State.

Michigan’s shooting performance against Oklahoma State in the second half of their 92 – 91 victory Friday was the talk of the first round of the NCAA tournament.  The Wolverines shot an impressive 16 – 25 (64%) from the field, including 11 – 15 (73.3%) from 3-point range.  They were not to be outdone in their second round matchup against the No. 2 seed Louisville Cardinals. 2017 NCAAA Division I Women’s Basketball Basketball Championship – First Round
Kentucky vs. Belmont
March 17, 2017 – Memorial Coliseum – Lexington, Kentucky
 
The Lady Cats came into the first round of the NCAA with a 21-10 season record and the reward of a home court advantage to take on the (27-5) Lady Bruins of Belmont.
After a third straight loss to powerhouse South Carolina, the Cats were ready for redemption. In their sites was breaking Belmont ’s 21-game winning streak. It would prove to be difficult.

2017 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship – First Round
Ohio State University vs Western Kentucky University
March 17, 2017 Memorial Coliseum – Lexington, Kentucky
The (27-6) Western Kentucky University Lady Toppers fell to the (26-6) Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Through out the game, WKU struggled to beat a
tenacious OSU defense, who pressed the entire game. When the buzzer sounded, OSU defeated WKU the 70-63.

UK Offense is Stagnant Late, Keeping the Norse in the Game.  UK Advances to the NCAA second round, where they’ll play Wichita State.

Basketball hysteria is a common theme during the month of March in Kentucky.  People from all over the country get involved in the NCAA Tournament and Kentucky is one of the higher seeds in the Tourney, with the fans not only expecting final fours but National Championships.   Kentucky has a rich tradition and has a rabid fan base that packs arena’s and is always one of the top ranked teams in the NCAA Tournament. March Madness is the most exciting month of the year for any one that is a college basketball fan. The game between Wichita State and Dayton was no exception.  The Shockers took part in the third of 4 games Played @ Bankers Life Field House. The game featured the Wichita State Shockers against the Dayton Flyers.
