Michigan’s shooting performance against Oklahoma State in the second half of their 92 – 91 victory Friday was the talk of the first round of the NCAA tournament.  The Wolverines shot an impressive 16 – 25 (64%) from the field, including 11 – 15 (73.3%) from 3-point range.  They were not to be outdone in their second round matchup against the No. 2 seed Louisville Cardinals. Louisville tops Notre Dame to finish 24-7

In a typical Louisville versus Notre Dame basketball game one knows they will see a back-and-forth affair with hard-nosed defense.  The possibility of overtime (nine in the series) is always a possibility.  Saturday’s game was no different, but it was Louisville who came out on top 71 – 64. No. 8 North Carolina Handles No. 7 Louisville 74 – 63

Cards Rally to Beat Miami 71 – 66 – 2-12-17

After missing four of its main players during Tuesday’s loss to Virginia, the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals had three of the four back against the visiting Miami Hurricanes.  The biggest return was that of starting point guard Quentin Snider.  Snider missed the last six games with a hip injury.  He helped spur a second half rally with three big 3-pointers and finished with 13 points and four assists in 33 minutes of action. Depleted Cardinals fall to No. 12 Virginia

For twenty minutes the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals looked as if they had finally figured out the Virginia Cavaliers.  The Cardinals have beaten the Cavaliers only once since joining the ACC, but tonight seemed different early on for U of L, even without four key players.  Quentin Snider and Tony Hicks were out due to injuries.  It was announce early Monday morning that Deng Adel and Mangok Mathiang were suspended for the game because of a curfew violation.   Continue reading Depleted Cardinals fall to No. 12 Virginia

College Basketball – Louisville Easily Handles Boston College

No. 6 Louisville kept on rolling after easily beating Boston College 90 – 67.  It was U of L’s third straight win and seventh out of eight.  

Shooting has been a sore spot for the Cardinals for much of the season, but lately the offense has caught up with their suffocating defense.  The Cards shot 57.6 percent from the field including 6 – 14 from  3-point range.  They out rebounded the Eagles 32 – 26.
