UK Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2017

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017 has been announced, with Randall Cobb (football), Collin Cowgill (baseball), Ralph Hacker (broadcaster), Sherry Hoover Bordner (cross country/indoor track/outdoor track), Sarah Rumely (volleyball) and John Wall (men’s basketball) set to be inducted during Hall of Fame Weekend, Sept. 22-23, in conjunction with the football home game vs. Florida. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –Sarah Shipley and Josephine Chang went on a tremendous run in U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship this week – one they can build on as they enter their first offseason as Kentucky women’s golfers – but the soon-to-be sophomores dropped their match Tuesday vs. the eighth-seeded tandem of Maria Torres and Samantha Wagner. Lexington welcomes baseball postseason play for first time since 2006

 LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will stage its first baseball postseason games since 2006 this week after being selected one of 16 schools to host the NCAA Tournament Regional round, it was announced Sunday night. Wildcats end the season 39-19

EUGENE, Ore. – The third-seeded Oregon Ducks took advantage of an uncharacteristicly bad inning in the top of the seventh inning, scoring four times off four hits to come from behind and end the No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats’ season at Jane Sanders Stadium, 6-5 in the second game of the 2017 Eugene Super Regional. The UK Softball team advanced through the NCAA Lexington Regional on Sunday with an exhilarating 4-2 win over Illinois. The Wildcats, riding the golden arms of senior Meagan Prince and Junior Erin Rethlake together with the sizzling bat of freshman Alex Martens, swept through DePaul and the Illini twice this weekend to survive the double elimination format. Junior infielder Riley Mahan joins Brent Rooker as only 2017 three-time winners

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Riley Mahan is the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after a white-hot week at the plate, it was announced Monday by the league office. It is Mahan’s third SEC Player of the Week honor this season, joining Mississippi State slugger Brent Rooker as the only three-time winners of the award. UK Softball – Kentucky Earns No. 14 National Seed, to Host Lexington Regional

Wildcats to open up with DePaul on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky softball team earned the No. 14 national seed in the 2017 NCAA Softball Championships, and will serve as regional hosts this weekend at John Cropp Stadium. The Wildcats will welcome Illinois, Marshall and DePaul to Lexington for a double-elimination style bracket to send one team to super regionals.
