WINCHESTER, Ky., Aug. 27, 2015 – Ginseng harvest season in the Daniel Boone National Forest opens soon, but there are some rules to know before you go.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men’s basketball team will compete in a pair of public Red-White intrasquad scrimmages in the KFC Yum! Center in October on Oct. 3 and 17.  Game times will be set when the Cardinals’ football games on those days are determined so as not to conflict with each other. National News – Agencies to Announce Conservation Successes for Imperiled Species in Eastern Kentucky

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service will host a ceremony to celebrate conservation successes in eastern Kentucky.  Collaborative conservation efforts between federal and state conservation agencies and other partners on the Daniel Boone National Forest are benefitting two imperiled species unique to Kentucky—the white-haired goldenrod and the Kentucky arrow darter.  At this event, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will make an announcement about the status of the white-haired goldenrod under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Kentucky News – Whitco Man Shot During Argument

(Whitco, KY) – A Letcher County man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received during an argument at his home.  Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to a residence on Abaco Court in the Whitco community, after dispatchers received a call advising of the shooting. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Letcher County Sheriff’s Department, Whitesburg Police Department, District 1 Constable, and Letcher Ambulance Service. Tippecanoe County-The Indiana State Police out of the Lafayette Post are requesting assistance from the public in locating a Zachary P. Didier, 25 from the Fort Wayne, IN area.  Didier is wanted on two felony warrants for Child Solicitation a Class C Felony and Possession of Child Pornography a Class D Felony. But questions are arising after #2 Raceland allowed two kickoff returns for touch downs. Are the Rams just shaking off the cobwebs? Or are Special Teams an Achilles heel for Raceland? Pikeville remains #5 this week, despite beating 2A Prestonsburg 43-6. Should Pikeville be ranked higher?
