Irene Chisenhall of Greenwood, DE entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 8 2010. She was 84.  Irene was born May 15, 1926 in Talbert, KY to the late Jesse and Bonnie Hall. She enjoyed traveling, especially going on mission trips.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Chisenhall; two sons, Philip and Henry Chisenhall; and four brothers.  She is survived by three sons and their wives, Sim and Fay Chisenhall, Eblen and Darlene Chisenhall, Jesse and Josie Chisenhall, daughter-in-law Sylvia Chisenhall wife of Philip, all of Greenwood, DE; sisters, Sophia Deaton of Jackson, Kentucky, Lillie Bell and husband Birchell of Jamestown, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Luther Franklin Boggs, 86 of Jackson, KY departed this earthly life on Sat. July 17, 2010 at the Nim Henson Nursing Home of an extended illness.  He was born Jan. 02, 1924 in Breathitt Co. and was the son of the late Rand and Bessie Back Boggs.  He was a retired KY Bureau of Highways employee and preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Catherine Cox Boggs.  He is survived by one daughter: Bonita (Paul) Wooton of Jackson, KY. Susan Paulo Hoecker, age 100 years and two weeks, of Vancleve , KY died on Friday, July 16, 2010 , at 11:54PM at the Wolfe County Care Home in Campton , KY.   Born on July 2, 1910 , in Akron , OH , she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Kollar Paulo. A graduate of Roseville High School in Roseville , MI and Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati , OH , she served as a loving, caring nurse for 45 years. She spent most of her working years as a nurse at a children’s home in Cincinnati and at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newport , KY.  While working at the children’s home, she met her future husband, Fred A. Hoecker, who preceded her in death.  She spent the latter years of her life at Mt. Carmel High School in Vancleve, KY , where both a brother and sister had lived and served in the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings – Paul, Irene, Andrew, Mary, Karl, and Helen Paulo – and stepsons, Paul and Vernon Hoecker.  Survivors include a stepdaughter-in law, Betty Hoecker of Ft. Thomas, KY;  a stepgranddaughter, Nancy Girton of Lebanon, OH; two step-grandsons, David Hoecker of Canton, OH, and Mark Hoecker of Charlotte, NC; four nieces and a nephew – Martha McKinley of Lexington, KY, Mary Frye of Round Rock, TX, Priscilla Probst of Wilmore, KY,  Jeanne Paulo of Phoenix, AZ and Bruce Paulo of Phoenix, AZ.   Funeral services Tuesday, July 20 at 2:30PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Arnold King 1926 – 2010  MOREHEAD – Arnold King, age 84, of Rosedale Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at his residence.  

Born April 12, 1926, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William and Millie Trent King.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Talmage Skaggs King.   

Arnold is survived by his wife, Evelyn Christine Caudill King; one son, Dennis Galen King of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leona Faye and John Knight of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Gisele and Loren Gilbert of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepson and daughter in law, Tommy and Becky Cains of Morehead, Kentucky; three stepdaughters, Patty Cains of Morehead, Kentucky, Terrie Markwell and husband Johnny of Morehead, Kentucky and Joan Pernell and husband Dennis of Salt Lick, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Wesley Allen Knight, Stephanie Tasha Purvis, Nicholas Andrew Knight, Jessica Lynn King, and Christopher Steven King; four great grandchildren, Lexan Loren Gilbert, Luke Ashton Purvis, Olivia Camille Knight, and Miles Andrew Knight; 10 step grandchildren; and 14 step great grandchildren.  

Other survivors include one sister, Elsie Howard of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.   

Arnold served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 – 1946, was a farmer, and attended the Church of God.  

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Vaughn Thornsberry and Rev. Austin Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in King Family Cemetery on Rosedale Road with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Lena Hamm Boyd – 1919-2010  MOREHEAD – Lena Hamm Boyd, 91, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at U.K. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, following a vehicle accident on May 26, 2010. She was born May 10, 1919, in Morehead, Kentucky, daughter of the late Melvin and Nancy Catron Hamm.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Taylor Hamilton, Jr.; three brothers and two sisters, Will Hamm, H. T. Hamm, Teddy Hamm, Evelyn Withrow and Sylvia Lewis.  Lena’s husband of 50 years, Roy Urvin Boyd, preceded her in death on May 26, 2010, just days prior to her passing.  She is survived by one sister:  Frieda Ruggeri of Porterville, California;  four sons: Larry Hamilton (Sara) of  Frenchburg, KY, Randy Hamilton (Patty) of Olive Hill, KY, Carter Hamilton (Theresa) of Brookville, OH, Tom Hamilton (Pat) of Englewood, OH; one daughter: Janice McKee (Bob) of Ashland, KY; and one daughter-in-law:  Shirley Rossele of Xenia, Ohio, wife of the late Allan Hamilton.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, David Allan Hamilton, Tami Hubbard, Lannie Gene (Shelia) McKee, Rob (Pam) McKee, Sandra Lena McKee, Wesley Hamilton, Tessa Perkins, Sean Hamilton, Phillip (Tina) McCoy, Shannon (Anna) Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, Tonya Hamilton, Todd (Lavera) Hamilton, Travis (Jamie) Hamilton, Angie (Jeff) Dotson, David T. Hamilton; 29 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; special extended family: Jack, Jelana, Britton, Austin and Brandon Lewis; many loving church family members and friends.  Lena was an active member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God where she was the pianist for over 50 years, served for many years on the Board of Christian Education, taught Sunday School, was the youth group leader, and for 25 years was President of the Women’s Missionary Society.  Lena was a longtime member and former president of the Rowan County Homemakers Association and also served on the County Extension Council for more than 20 years.  She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Morehead Chapter 227, where she held the offices of Organist and Chaplain. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals.  An Eastern Star Memorial will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday by Morehead OES Chapter 227.   Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God with Pastor Gary McQuain, Associate Pastor Cecil Ison and the Reverend Max Molihan officiating. May 16, 2010 after a long illness.   He was born June 08, 1938 in Van Lear, KY to Cecil and Sarah Ditty.  Ed graduated from Breathitt High School and served in the Air Force.  After returning to Kentucky, he worked for the Dept. of Surface Mining.  He was an active member of Jackson First United Methodist Church. Mr. Molands was born August 23, 1938, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, son of the late Frank and Bertha (Gross) Molands. He married the former Beverly Byars on June 21, 1970. She survives. away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at his residence.  He was born October 21, 1929, in Elliott County, Kentucky, son of the late Robert Lee and Sarah Catron Mabry.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Curt Mabry, and one sister, Clara Royse.  Elbert is survived by his wife, Sue Crager Mabry, whom he married September 21, 1962; one daughter, Lisa Rai Mabry-Price and husband Tony of Leesburg, Virginia; and one granddaughter, Lauren Price.  Other survivors include one brother, Arthur Mabry of Hillsboro, Kentucky; one sister, Thelma Justice of Logan, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Mabry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Cowden Manufacturing Company after 43 years of service.   He was an outdoorsman and avid hunter.  Elbert loved nature, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Lauren.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Sue Black.  Mrs. Black was born February 14, 1920, in Blue Diamond, Kentucky, daughter of the late George Washington Wallace, who passed away September 28, 1933, and Ellen Lustra Brown Wallace, who passed away June 3, 1971.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, James Porter, Calvin Morris, Freddie, Elam, Ernest Clarence, and Curtice Wallace and a baby boy, and two sisters, Maudie Irene Wallace Wright and Mattie Lou Wallace Raines Emory.  Her husband, Audry (A. C.) Black, passed away July 1, 1996.  Mrs. Black is survived by two sons:  Ronald Gene (Phyllis) Black and Glennis Ray (Tina) Black of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters:  Wanda Louise Black (Randall) Catron of Clayton, Georgia, and K. Sue Black, of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren:  Lisa Mischelle Black, Clayton Ray Black, Colton M. Black, Brenda Lee Black (William) Woodruff, Angela Carole Black, and Andrea Gene Black; seven great grandchildren:   Kaden Clark Hoover, William Glen Woodruff, Jr., Natasha Marie Woodruff, Alyssia Lynea Woodruff, Ashley Marie Roon, Lyndzy Ann Roon, and Symantha Barrera; and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Black retired from Cowden Manufacturing Company in 1982.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved to sew, make quilts, hand quilt, and can fresh garden vegetables.  She was well known for her excellent cream pies, especially butterscotch, lemon, and coconut.  She enjoyed taking walks with friends and neighbors, working in her puzzle books, and keeping up with her friends on the phone.  She was a member of Salt Lick Freewill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mildred (Millie) Richards Kreitzer, age 80, of Clearfork Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Elliott County Nursing and Rehab Center in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.  She was born June 13, 1929, in Soldier, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jerry Blake and Cecelia Lewis Richards.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Ray, Paul and Ralph Richards, and a daughter, Erma Julia Kreitzer.  Millie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth E. Kreitzer, whom she married March 26, 1946; three sons, Kenneth E. Kreitzer, Jr., of Juneau, Alaska, Jess Daniel Kreitzer of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Blake Richards Kreitzer of Tracy, California; six daughters, Sharon Kreitzer of Morehead, Kentucky, Esther Stafford of Huber Heights, Ohio, Alice Freeman of Beavercreek, Ohio, Teresa Kreitzer of Dayton, Ohio, Miranda Stone of Lexington, Kentucky, and Julie Johnson of Virginia Beach, Virginia;  15  grandchildren;  6 great grandchildren; and  3 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three brothers, Lovell Richards of Spring Hill, Florida, Fred Richards of Clearwater, Florida, and Jerry Richards of Safety Harbor, Florida; two sisters, Erma Kiser of Clearwater, Florida, and Alice Goldzwig of Safety Harbor, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Kreitzer was actively involved in the community and represented Rowan County in Senior Olympics national competitions.  She was a member of Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church.  A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Crum, age 57, of Laurel Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.  Born December 30, 1952, in Elliott County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrl Holbrook Stafford.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dixie Pennington, Della Jean Stafford, and Patricia Lynn Stafford, and two brothers, Charles Stafford and Haskell Stafford.  Helen Ann is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bobby Crum, whom she married April 2, 1978; one daughter, Mary Beller; one son, Adam Crum, and two grandsons, Michael Beller and Shawn Beller, all of Morehead, KentuckyAlso surviving are five sisters, Shirley Howard of Morehead, Kentucky, Dolly Burton of Grayson, Kentucky, Lucille Barber and Lola Hampton of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and Paula Stafford of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews.  Helen was a fork lift operator at Family Dollar Distribution for more than ten years.  She enjoyed arranging flowers, planting flowering trees, and pampering her dog, Cocoa.  Helen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.  Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Smedley, age 54, of Lodge Hall Hill, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident in Soldier, Kentucky. Graham.  Ruby’s beloved husband of nearly 68 years, William C. “Bill” Porter, whom she wed August 14, 1940, passed away July 12, 2008.  Ruby is survived by five sons, William Roy Porter and wife MarLee of Virginia Beach, VA, Ronald Eugene Porter and wife Mitzie of Morehead, KY, Roger Lee Porter and wife Rita of Morehead, KY, Larry Wilson Porter and wife Geri of Lexington, KY, and Timothy Wayne Porter of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter, Sarah Jean “Cherry” Murphy of Fayetteville, NC, wife of the late Sergeant Major William Larry Murphy, Sr.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.  Ruby was a longtime cashier at Allen’s IGA and former employee of Martin’s Department Store.  She was a member of Mt. Sparks of Indiana.  Her stepfather, Bob Wright, preceded her in death on December 25, 2004.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 23 years, Stanley Kovar, whom she married September 2, 1986; two children, Joseph Frank Lucas and Melissa Lee Price of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Sherry Conkwright, her twin, and Pam Wright McLain, both  of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Charles Roberts and Darrell Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brian Price, Sarah Price, Jasmine Lucas, Riley Ann Lucas; and a great grandchild to be born in September 2010.

Vernon, Illinois, he was the son of the late Russell Earnest Dodson, Sr. and Esther Jane Margaret Gregory Dodson.  Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally K. residence.  He was born May 31, 1917 in Jackson, KY and was the son of the late George and Louverna Campbell Daniel.  He was preceded in death by two brothers;  Raymond and George Daniel and one grandson: Clify.  He was employed at E.I. Dupont for 32 years; a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge.  He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years: Hazel Goff Daniel of Louisville, KY.  Three daughters:  Carolyn Sue Campbell (Lowell) of Crestwood, KY; Mary Lou Daniel Crocker of Dallas, TX; Marsha Lynn Smith (Thomas) of Richmond, VA.  One sister: Geneva Tirey.  7 grandchildren:  Lowell Campbell, Jr (Sherry); Barbara Hatting, Teresa Hofmann (Richard); Jason Campbell (Dee); Timothy Smith (jennifer); Kristin Pepper and Julia Yates (Gregory). 9 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Thurs. Bozeman, Montana, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, died on Monday, April 12, 2010.  He was born October 12, 1911, in Rowan County, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles Henry and Mary Elizabeth Johnson McBrayer.  He was educated in the Poplar Grove and Oak Grove one-room schools where his father was the teacher.  On May 11, 1929, he married Alta Lambert McBrayer, who preceded him in death on May 14, 1976.  They had eight children.  In 1979, Bert married Mary Reynolds Blair, who preceded him in death on March 6, 2005.  He farmed on Ditney Ridge during the 40’s and 50’s.  Then he sold the farm and moved to Clearfield and went to work for Lee Clay Products.  After Lee Clay closed, he worked for St. Claire Medical Center until his retirement at age 70.  He was ordained a minister in 1949 and began preaching by holding prayer meetings in homes.  He also preached in various one-room schoolhouses before building a church on the CCC Trail near Ditney Ridge.  In November 1961, he became pastor of the Elliottville Baptist Church and remained their pastor for 30 years until his retirement in 1991.  He was preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur McBrayer, James Earl McBrayer, and Beecher McBrayer, and two sisters, Marie McBrayer and Irene Sargent.  He is survived by one brother, Herbert McBrayer of Lexington, Kentucky; and one sister, Thelma Bradley of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; five sons, Lenvil McBrayer of Modesto, California, Richard McBrayer of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Emil McBrayer of Layton, Utah, Tim McBrayer of Enola, Pennsylvania, and Bert McBrayer, Jr. of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Janet Dulin of Bozeman, Montana, and Naomi Sheaffer of Winchester, Virginia; two step-daughters, Bertalee Blair Thornsberry of Monroe, Ohio, and Rhonda Blair Davis of Paris, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by one son, Arthur McBrayer; one step-son, Verl Blair; and four granddaughters, Marie McBrayer, Lori Austin, Teresa McBrayer, and Sharon Charles.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born October 7, 1931, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, son of the late Irvine and Norma Wilson Pelfrey.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Riffe Pelfrey; one brother, Glenwood Pelfrey; and one grandson, Stephen Congleton.  Kendel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nelda Murphy Pelfrey; two sons, Kerry (Melanie) Pelfrey of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and Kenny Wayne (Connie) Pelfrey of Van Lear, Kentucky; two daughters, Diana (Bill) Miller of Richmond, Kentucky, and Jeannie (Rolfe) Kruckas of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jaylena Manley, Scott Congleton, Tasha Stewart, Benjamin Congleton, Jason Pelfrey, and Tyler Pelfrey; and eight great grandchildren.

Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  She was born December 20, 1936, at Fitch, Kentucky, in Lewis County, daughter of the late Lewis “Luke” Richmond and Opal Spence Richmond.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Ruthie Gilliam, Lucille Cropper, Harold Richmond, and Ray Richmond, who passed away four hours after Velma died.  Her husband, James C. Adams, passed away November 15, 1996.  Velma is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Lee Blevins and husband Tim of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, James Ray Adams of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, T. J. Blevins and wife Leslie, Rebecca Stone and husband Jason, Toby Ray Blevins and fiancée Kala Plank, Ashley Dawn Adams, and Corban James Adams; and two great grandchildren, James Wiley Blevins and Bailey Jane Blevins.

Also surviving are two sisters, Faye Zornes and Dianna Zornes of Morehead, Kentucky, one half-sister, Wilma Sue Eddy of Minford, Ohio; one half-brother, Gary Richmond of Senora, Kentucky, and stepmother, Lula Jordan Richmond Butler and husband Raymond of Lewis County, Kentucky.  Velma was a homemaker and farmer who especially enjoyed raising cattle.  Graveside services and interment will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the Bentley Cemetery with the Rev. away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky, after a brief illness. He was born July 9, 1932, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to Willie and Carrie Caudill Anderson. Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Sue Hall Anderson.  He is also survived by two daughters, Marcia (Armando) Arrastia of Frankfort, Kentucky; Lora Anderson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and a son, Kevin (Julie) Anderson of Morehead, Kentucky.  He was the proud grandpa of Kristopher Litton, Rachel Arrastia, Erika Litton, Carrie Arrastia, Anna Arrastia, and Nick Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Delmar, Jesse, and Dallas Anderson.  Surviving are brothers, Earl, Bill, Lloyd, and Claude Anderson of Morehead, and Clester Anderson of Anderson, Indiana; and sisters, Tina Ward of Wilmington, Delaware, and Nina Bowman of Morehead.  Roy was a very active member of Morehead First Church of God.   He served two years in the U.S. Army; was a former Rowan County Deputy Sheriff; former member of the Morehead Volunteer Fire Department; past president of Morehead Lions Club; and an eight-year member of Morehead City Council.  Formerly, he was manager of Jerry’s Restaurant; manager/co-owner of the Dairy Cheer; and retired from Food Lion in Morehead.  He was a great cook and loved being outdoors, gardening and raising flowers.   Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and anytime after 9 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Morehead First Church of God, 576 Sunset Drive.   A funeral celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the church with Pastor Allan Hutchinson and the Rev. 83, of Divide Hill, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.   She was born November 26, 1926, in Fleming County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Bart Bumgardner and Grace Pelfrey Bumgardner Nealey.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Sherry Gayle McCarty and Anthony Wayne Willoughby; one sister, Sannah Richardson; two brothers, Marion Bumgardner and William Pelfrey; and a son-in-law, Harry McCarty.  Her husband, Keenis Johnson, preceded her in death on August 2, 1992.   Mrs. Johnson is survived by four daughters, Katrina McCarty of Morehead, Kentucky, Sharon McCarty and husband Gay; Pam Hollingsworth and husband Paul; and Tammy Easterling and husband Terry, all of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.  Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and working crossword puzzle books.   She was a member of the Ringos Mill Christian Church and attended the Little Mary Church.  She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all.   Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Lonnie Gregory and the Rev. Maryland, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.  She was born January 25, 1937, at Laurel, Kentucky, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Carl Matthews and Ada Sloan Crisp.  Her husband, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hensley, preceded her in death on September 8, 1968. Mrs. Hensley is survived by one son, Shannon Clay Hensley, and one daughter, Jackie Lynn Hensley, both of Silver Spring, Maryland, and two granddaughters, Jaclyn Renee Hensley and Ashley Marie Werner.   Mrs. Hensley was a homemaker and former health care specialist at the Great Oaks Center of Maryland.  Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Trent Cemetery with the Rev. passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born April 28, 1939, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hollie Goodman and Hazel Black Goodman Kidd.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Goodman and three step brothers, Estill Kidd, Gene Kidd, and Emory Kidd. Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife of 46 years, Viola Wescott Goodman, whom he married September 14, 1963; two daughters, Bridgett Fultz and husband Scotty and Marcia Glover and husband Danny; one son, Brian Goodman; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Fultz, Jadon Fultz, and Brady Goodman, all of Morehead, Kentucky. Also surviving are four sisters, Juanita Slusher of Merrillville, Indiana, Jewell Swartz of Morehead, Kentucky, Marie Dehart of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and Della Johnson of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one brother, Roger Kidd of Morehead, Kentucky; and three step brothers, Clyde Kidd and Ellis Kidd, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Claude Kidd of Wauseon, Ohio.  Mr. Clayton retired from Morehead State University after 26 years of service. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.  Born February 21, 1933, in Ferndale, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Alice Blackmore Eagle.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, three sisters, six brothers, and one grandson, Jason Perry.  Mrs. Perry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe C. Perry, whom she married November 25, 1949; one daughter, Catherine Allred and husband Mel of Johnstown, Colorado; two sons, Robert J. Perry and wife Sue of Morehead, Kentucky, and James H. Perry and wife Susan of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jenny Gatlin and husband Kent of Harvest, Alabama, Mandi Rose and husband Dave of Morehead, Kentucky, Lori Fensler of Milliken, Colorado, and  Jacqui Lorick and husband Robert of Columbia, South Carolina; ten great grandchildren, Kammy, Hailey, and Grant Rose, all of Morehead, Kentucky, Bret Isenhoff of Alabama, Bella and Lexi Fensler, both of Colorado, Jared, Jada, Julie, and Jacob Lorick, all of South Carolina; and four brothers, Ivan Eagle, Gerald Eagle, Dave Eagle, and Norman Eagle, all of Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Perry moved to Morehead in 1958 where she worked for many years caring for others in the Morehead area.  She was the first nurse’s aide to work at St. Claire Hospital when it opened July 1, 1961.  She later received her LPN license and training at St. Claire Hospital where she worked until 1968.  She worked from 1968 to 1971 at Daniel Boone Life Care Center and the Morehead Clinic from 1971 until she retired in 1983.  Mrs. Perry was a member of the Lakeview Community Church.  She was a valuable asset to the Morehead community and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Lakeview Community Church with Brother James Allen, Pastor Mike Clark, and Brother Greg Gilliam officiating.  Burial was in New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Moore, Dennis Perry, Steve Perry, Greg Gilliam, Bill Coble, and Jack Hughes. Visitation was Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.  View or sign guestbook at www.northcuttandson.com

passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at his residence.  Born March 10, 1931, in Clearfield, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Thelma Jones Moore.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him, William and Mary Lou Hall Jones.  Coy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vinda Frances Thomas Moore, whom he married October 19, 1951; one son, Billy Gene Moore of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Linda Kay Moore Cooper of Farmers, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, John S. Cooper, Mary van Rhyn and husband Are`, James Cooper and wife Michelle, and LaToya Elshishtawi and husband Mahmoud.  Coy retired from the City of Morehead, Public Works Department, after 35 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, raising his grandchildren, and attending his grandchildren’s ballgames.  Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arbutis Miller, 87, passed away Wed., Mar. 17, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Whick and Eva Fugate and the widow of the late Arthur Miller.  She was also preceded in death by one son, General Joe Noble and one sister, Mary Neace.  She was a member of the Neace Memorial Church at Ned.  She is survived by two sons, Earl Farler & Merrill Farler of Lexington;  three daughters,  Vesta & husband, Darryl Allen of Hardshell, Creola & husband, Silas Jr. Miller of Rowdy and Sallie Miller of Rowdy;  three brothers, Clay Fugate and Alfred Fugate of Lost Creek and Arlie Fugate of Austin, Indiana;  five sisters, Eurbane Miller and Canzala Combs of Lost Creek, Polly Fugate and Bertha Wells of Indiana and Bessie Stewart of Austin, Texas;  ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren;  special granddaughters, Ashley R. Miller, Crystal R. Eldridge and Michelle Jones;  special grandsons, Arthur Paul and wife, Jess Miller, Silas D. Annie Sebastian Barrett, age 78, of Houston, KY departed this earthly life on Wed. March 17, 2010 at the KY River Medical Center in  Jackson of an extended illness. She was born July 28, 1931 at Sebastians Branch and was the daughter of the late Sherman and Martha Herald Barrett.  She was preceded in death by her husband:  Johnnie Green Barrett.  One daughter: Sharon Barrett and one son:  William David Barrett.  She is survived by two daughters;  Linda Combs of Stanton, KY and Mary Louise Braun of Covington, KY.  Five sons:  Michael and Claude Barrett of Houston, KY; B.G. William Scott O’Brien 1923 – 2010  FLEMINGSBURG – William “Bill” Scott O’Brien, age 87, of Greenway Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Pioneer Trace Nursing in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Born January 20, 1923, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Gilmore “Pat” and Ethel Boyd O’Brien.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve O’Brien and Douglas O’Brien, and one sister, Jo Nelson Harmon. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geneva Manning O’Brien, whom he married September 28, 1947; a daughter, Sharon Vice and husband Wayne of Ewing, Kentucky; a brother, Charles O’Brian of Marion, Indiana; a special special grandson, Clinton Vice of Ewing, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of Mr. O’Brien, a private graveside service will be held at the Hillsboro Cemetery with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.  Arrangements for William “Bill” Scott O’Brien are under the direction of Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.

Jesse Lee Hodges 1983 – 2010 MOREHEAD – Jesse Lee Hodges, age 27, of Triplett Creek Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born January 10, 1983, in Lexington, Kentucky, and is the son of Steve and Cindy Spears Hodges of Hillsboro, Kentucky.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Shayne Gilbert Hodges, whom he married June 7, 2008; one step son, Kyler Gilbert and one step daughter, Shelby Gilbert, both at home; one sister, Stevi Hodges of Hillsboro, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Norma Ellington Hodges of Morehead, Kentucky; maternal grandparents, Betty Spears of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Jim and Marsha Spears of Franklin, Kentucky; one niece, Maci Leigh Crain; one nephew, Trace Allen Hodges; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leroy Hodges, in 2009, and a cousin, Jason Scott Hodges, in 2007.  Jesse was a heavy equipment operator for Demolition Disposal Services in Clark County, Kentucky.  Jesse was a 2001 graduate from the Rowan County Senior High School and attended Morehead State University.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Kentucky basketball.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Valley, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky. Born October 16, 1919, in Willoughby, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wayne and Lily Maud Allis Ticknor. Her husband, Edward Hamilton Goodan, Jr., formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, preceded her in death on June 30, 1973. Survivors include two daughters, Laura Goodan-Graham and husband George of Pewee Valley, Kentucky, and Rita G. Michael Dean Spencer, age 59, husband of Barbara A. (Darling) Spencer, passed away Friday, February 12^th, 2010, at his residence. Michael was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on July 2, 1950, to the late John Edward and Beulah I. (Spencer) Spencer. He was a former maintenance electrician for Rochester Manufacturing in Rochester Hills, MI, a member of the Beattyville Masonic Lodge #213, and he enjoyed woodworking. Along with his wife of 40 years, he is survived by 1 son, Michael E. Spencer, 1 daughter, Beth A. Frost, 6 grandchildren; Jordan E. Spencer, Adora B. Frost, Sarah B. Frost, James M. Frost, Madison E. Frost, and Michael G. Spencer, all of Beattyville, KY, and a host of other friends and relatives. Charles Edward Phillips, age 75, passed away Thursday, February 18^th, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Beattyville, KY, on February 7, 1935, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lena Mae (Hambrick) Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a farmer who enjoyed working the land, and attended the Bear Track Bible Church. He is survived by a son, Charles Thomas Phillips (Tommy), his daughter-in-law, Janice Farthing Phillips of Richmond, KY; 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Larry (Peggy) Phillips of Beattyville, KY, Floretta (Norwood) Thorpe of Irvine, KY, Herbert and Gordon Phillips both of Beattyville, KY, Gerald (Nancy) Phillips of Lexington, KY, and Margaret Bagford of Springfield, OH, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his dog Jack. Virgil Harris, age 82, husband of Anna Mae (Thompson) Harris, passed away Wednesday, March 3^rd, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Virgil was born in Owsley County, KY, on September 26, 1927, to the late Walter Minus and Susan Peters Harris. He was a Baptist Minister, a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church; he had worked with Ova Cornett as a carpenter, and was a member of the Masonic New Hope Lodge #574. Along with his wife of 60 years, his is survived by 6 daughters, Phyllis (Bill) Cavins and Sandy (Ed) Coffey both of Jackson County, KY, Bernice Coffey and Rosie Harris both of Booneville, KY, Linda (Dewey) Moore of Franklin, OH, and Judy (Caroll) Ford of Marietta, GA, 20 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Opal Burch of Booneville, KY, and Emma Allen of Shelbyville, KY, and a host of other friends and relatives. Also he served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the DAV Booneville Chapter 21. Along with his wife of 47 years, he is survived by 4 sons; Millard Earl Hardy, Tracy Hardy, Darren (Krystle) Hardy, and Chris Hardy, 2 sisters, Bertha Cole of Booneville, KY, and Ethel Rogers of Waco, KY, 4 grandchildren; Jordan Hardy, and his mother Missy Thomas, and Alyssa, Emma, and Aiden Hardy, and a host of other friends and relatives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Earl, Harold, and Eugene, and 1 sister, Gladys. Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at her residence.  She was born June 24, 1953, in Morgan County, Kentucky, daughter of the Carl Vernon and Sarah Hazel Johnson Matthews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Jean Moore, Linda McVey, Lois Jenkins, Kathy Richardson, Sharlene Roe, and Opal Hunter.  She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, James Allen Ison, whom she married June 27, 1970; two daughters, Susie Berniece (Jim) Wicker and Jennifer Lynn (Jeff) Porter, of Morehead, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Heather Renee Blair, Emily Katherine Wicker, and James Allen Wicker.  Also surviving are three brothers, Carl Vernon Matthews, Jr., of Grayson, Kentucky, Earl David Matthews of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Michael Keith Matthews of Richmond, Kentucky; two sisters, Shirley Ann Ison of Naples, Florida, and Billie Jo Jent of Morehead, Kent; and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Ison was a former employee of Norge Village and a member of Lytten Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.  She loved her garden, spending time with her grandchildren, and her church family. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Lytten Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ with Bishop Denzil Fannin officiating.  Burial was in the Ison Cemetery on Trent Ridge. formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Dearing Georgia, at the residence of her daughter, Teresa O’Neill. Born December 31, 1932, in Windber, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Alma Hobart Felix. Her husband, Leonard Joseph McNeal, preceded her in death on December 6, 1994. Survivors include four daughters Ann Pereda of Dearing, Georgia, Teresa O’Neill of Dearing, Georgia, Amy Moore of Morehead, Kentucky, and Mary McNeal of Dickson, Tennessee; three sons:  Robert McNeal of Hayes, Virginia, Timothy John McNeal of Port Orchard, Washington, and Edward McNeal of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Robert Felix of Windber, Pennsylvania, and John Felix of Maple Glen, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mrs. McNeal was formerly a registered nurse at St. Claire Regional Medical Center Emergency and St. Claire Hospice.  She was a member of Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church with the Rev. R. Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  She was born January 16, 1929, at Zag, Kentucky, in Morgan County, one of 16 children of Clyde Livingston and Christine Callahan Lewis.    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Arlie Lee Lewis, Chester Dewitt Lewis and Mary Frances Fairchild. Her husband, Jim Frank Engle, whom she wed December 3, 1948, passed away June 7, 1990. Mrs. Engle is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Helen Sandra Engle Williams (MSU Librarian Emeritus and Rowan County Public Library Director) and husband Daniel C. Williams of West Liberty, Kentucky. Other survivors include siblings Maxine Rigsby of Wallingford, Kentucky, Darrell Lewis, Nannie Lewis, Bernard Lewis, Goldie Rigsby, Clyde Lewis, Jr., Leatha Rigsby, Jimmy Lewis, Steve Lewis, and Drema Cox, all of West Liberty, Kentucky, Richard Lewis and Connie Hutchinson of Fairborn,  Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, C. Sweeterville Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born October 7, 1925, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Russell and Mila McClain Arnold.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Gilbert, Clella and Clinton Arnold, and six sisters, Olive Arnold Pilarski, Ruby Arnold Lambert, and Bulah , Bertha, Rosie and Athie Arnold.  Her first husband, Cebert Trent passed away April 8, 1988; and her second husband, Hobert J. Snipes, on July 2, 2009. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Trent Riddle and husband Terry of Morehead, Kentucky; two sons, Robert Trent and wife Cindy of Morehead, Kentucky, and Linden Trent and wife Pam of Hillsboro, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Amy Riddle of Morehead, Kentucky, and David Trent and wife Jacquelyn of Morehead, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She also leaves behind many special friends and caregivers at the Life Care Center.

She was a homemaker and former employee of Ball Brothers and Ford Motor Company, waitress and cook.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of New Home Christian Church and enjoyed visiting many churches throughout the area.  She always looked forward to church services at the Life Care Center and the prayer and fellowship from the many visiting churches in the community. 

Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Brad Bennington and Brother Ralph Taylor officiating.  Burial was in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery.

Emery Noble, age 80, of Clayhole, Ky. passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 due to an a ATV accident. He was a retired miner and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was the son of the late Emery Noble, Sr., and Elizabeth Stacy Noble.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Allen Noble, of Clayhole; three daughters: Wilma J. Shearer of Ohio; Elizabeth Ann Barner of Ohio; and Thelma Wagner of Rowdy, Ky;  one son, Quinton Noble of Ohio; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; three step-children: Ira Clemons, Ernie Clemons and Barbara S. Bailey; five step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lula Mae Fugate of Chicago; and one brother, Willard Noble of Louisville, Ky.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Ann Perdue and husband John of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; three sons, Richard Lee Elkins and wife Fran of Milton, Florida, Phillip Gene Elkins of Owingsville, Kentucky, Gregory Allan Elkins and wife Cindy of Milford, Delaware; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Feltner (Penny) of West Helena, AR; a close friend, George Hubble; three grandsons, Terry L.. Jr., Billy, and David E. III; four granddaughters, Amber, Natasha, Phoenix, and Samantha; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Ambrose Hall of Somerset, KY, the late Wilbert and Johnny Hall; five sisters, Tanzlee (Jim Burnett) of Somerset, KY, Texas McIntosh of Somerset, KY, Annalou ( Rev. Jerry Helphinstine / 1941 – 2010 HILLSBORO – Jerry Helphinstine, age 68, of Mooresville, Indiana, formerly of Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 14, 1941, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, son of the late Floyd and Dorothy Fogleman Helphinstine.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joy. Born April 20, 1948, in Irvine, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ben F. Hunt, Jr. and Edna Adams Hunt. 

June is survived by his wife, Toni G. Bailey Hunt, whom he wed June 30, 1972; one daughter, Loralyn Courtney and her husband Gene of Owingsville, Kentucky; one sister, Robbin Durbin and her husband Larry of Irvine, Kentucky; three half-brothers, Roy Grimes and Ray Bradley of Winchester, Kentucky, and Don Bradley of Stanton, Kentucky. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Terra and Tanya Durbin. June was an employee of Square D for 16 years, retired from Donatech after 10 years of service, and enjoyed gardening and raising Charolais cattle. A minister for more than 38 years, June was ordained in 1978 at the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.  He was the pastor of several churches including Moore’s Creek First Church of God in Stanton, Polksville First Church of God and Preston First Church of God, both in Bath County and Jackson First Church of God in Breathitt County. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lowell C. Rice officiating.  Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel, Kentucky. Milton “Ray” Plank / 1939 – 2010 MOREHEAD – Milton “Ray” Plank, age 70, of Winchester, Indiana, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born September 29, 1939, in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of the late Elmer Thomas Plank and Cora Mae Esham Plank.   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Plank and Homer Plank, and one stepdaughter, Sharon Estep. Ray is survived by one son, Terry Ray Plank of Beaufort, South Carolina; two daughters, Pam Yates of  Okeechobee, Florida, and Dora Mae Caruso of Parma, Ohio; one sister, Dixie Blythe of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Warren Plank of Morehead, Kentucky, and J.
