Susan Paulo Hoecker, age 100 years and two weeks, of Vancleve , KY died on Friday, July 16, 2010 , at 11:54PM at the Wolfe County Care Home in Campton , KY. Born on July 2, 1910 , in Akron , OH , she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Kollar Paulo. A graduate of Roseville High School in Roseville , MI and Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati , OH , she served as a loving, caring nurse for 45 years. She spent most of her working years as a nurse at a children’s home in Cincinnati and at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newport , KY. While working at the children’s home, she met her future husband, Fred A. Hoecker, who preceded her in death. She spent the latter years of her life at Mt. Carmel High School in Vancleve, KY , where both a brother and sister had lived and served in the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings – Paul, Irene, Andrew, Mary, Karl, and Helen Paulo – and stepsons, Paul and Vernon Hoecker. Survivors include a stepdaughter-in law, Betty Hoecker of Ft. Thomas, KY; a stepgranddaughter, Nancy Girton of Lebanon, OH; two step-grandsons, David Hoecker of Canton, OH, and Mark Hoecker of Charlotte, NC; four nieces and a nephew – Martha McKinley of Lexington, KY, Mary Frye of Round Rock, TX, Priscilla Probst of Wilmore, KY, Jeanne Paulo of Phoenix, AZ and Bruce Paulo of Phoenix, AZ. Arnold King 1926 – 2010 MOREHEAD – Arnold King, age 84, of Rosedale Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at his residence.
Born April 12, 1926, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William and Millie Trent King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Talmage Skaggs King.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Evelyn Christine Caudill King; one son, Dennis Galen King of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leona Faye and John Knight of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Gisele and Loren Gilbert of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepson and daughter in law, Tommy and Becky Cains of Morehead, Kentucky; three stepdaughters, Patty Cains of Morehead, Kentucky, Terrie Markwell and husband Johnny of Morehead, Kentucky and Joan Pernell and husband Dennis of Salt Lick, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Wesley Allen Knight, Stephanie Tasha Purvis, Nicholas Andrew Knight, Jessica Lynn King, and Christopher Steven King; four great grandchildren, Lexan Loren Gilbert, Luke Ashton Purvis, Olivia Camille Knight, and Miles Andrew Knight; 10 step grandchildren; and 14 step great grandchildren.

Arnold served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 – 1946, was a farmer, and attended the Church of God.
