Clay Co. Edges Lady Cats
The Breathitt Co. Lady Cats lost at the buzzer to Clay Co. 37-35. Kendra Noble and Eden Keeton led the Lady Cats with 9 points each.
Timmy Knipp led the way with 30 points in Elliott County’s 77-73 victory at West Carter. Craig Faulkner and Jacobs Ison both added double-doubles for the Lions. Faulkner had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Ison had 12 points and 10 boards. West Carter kept it close with 13 points and 16 rebounds from sophomore Derrick Lawson.
Wolfe Co. was no match for state power Lexington Catholic loosing 81-50. Jaylen Beckham led the Knights with 14 points and Seth Beckham added 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Matt St. Johns scored 25 points and hauled in 11 rebounds as South Laurel cruised by Whitley Co. 61-40.
Stuart Stamper scored 18 points and dished out 4 assists in a Knott Central 65-58 victory over Hazard. Tate Cox added 10 points for the Patriots. The Bulldogs were led by Josh Whitaker with 18 points.
Louisville Cardinal signee Elisha Justice poured in 20 points as Shelby Valley defeated Clay 60-42.

Former Kentucky Wildcat favorite Landon Slone has decided to take his talents to Pikeville College. Sloan played one season at UK under then head coach Billy Gillespie
Morehead State Wins 1000th game
The Morehead State men’s basketball team rallied to knock off Tennessee Tech 77-64 for the programs 1000th win. Kenneth Faried led the Eagles with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Demonte Harper pitched in 15 points.

The visiting Lexington Christian Eagles (8-3) got 15 points from Sara Beth Barnette and 11 each from Kelli Mitchuson and Kelli Rinehart in the victory 47-38 over the Christian Academy Centurions (9-3).Allison Karst had 12 points and China Dow 10 for the Centurions
The host No. 6 Seneca Red hawks (12-2) pulled away by outscoring the Butler Bears 24-10 in the fourth quarter. Aaron Nance led Seneca with 19 points, and Kevin Shaw came off the bench to score 15, hitting three three-point baskets. Austin Fuqua scored 10 points for Butler (8-4).
Nick Roush scored 15 points as the visiting DeSales Colts (7-6) toppled the No. 17 St. Xavier Tigers 49-46. Nick Spalding and Michael Ising led St. X with 10 points each. Both teams have a 7-6 record.
C.J. Leslie in Lexington
UK recruit C.J. Leslie and his Word of God basketball squad was in Lexington last weekend to take on Bluegrass Baptist. Word of God had no trouble winning 96-48. Leslie did not disappoint scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds
